I agree it is unlikely the PC would still work like that, but what gets
me is the PC itself functions fine. It seemed like a polarity problem
would have affected the computer as well. Regardless, it's a dangerous
situation. The man had his modem running on the same computer for 6
months prior to this happening, so whatever it was happened recently.
The house was approximately 6 years old, so all the outlets are 3 prong
gronded outlets; I'm sure the electrician may have taken some shortcuts
when he put everything together, but that was a strange problem. The
traces in the PC shouldn't have passed enough current to do what it did
without killing the computer.
