I personally think its more a matter of economics.  As long as people are
willing to pay the higher price, they'll gladly charge it.  Personally, I'd
rather it cost at least a little more than dialup.  Just think, if cable
cost the same as dialup, just about every person out there would immediately
switch, and there goes connection speed right down the drain.
