But you tossed that "no extra software" requirement in that wasn't in the original request. Is the guy using e-mail? A web browser? Both can easily be used to access unauthorized files, unless he's kept up on security patches for the appropriate programs. Has he enabled personal web services? Many systems come default with this enabled, and if you don't know what to look for it won't be disabled by the user. Okay, I'll go this far to agree with you: If I have a Windows 95 machine and have not enabled file and printer sharing, AND I don't use e-mail or a web browser (because they are "extra software"), AND I have an internet connection but never log into it, AND I have my system encased in poured concrete and buried at a secret location, AND I have killed the person who buried it, whom I did not accompany so I have no idea where it is either, AND it never gets accidentally uncovered, THEN the chances of it being "broken into" are extremely low. If there's enough value in it for me, I can break into your system. Whatever kind it is and wherever it may be, connected or not. You can't secure it 100%, but you can make it not worth my while. Jeff
