Any information on setting up 2 computers on the 1 reconized NIC card
(without a router} would be helpful

What do you mean by that? A NIC is plugged into one computer or the other,
not both. Please clarify what you're trying to do.

I saw one (router) advertised for $49.99 last night at circuit city. You
can do a 2 NIC setup in one PC and use internet connection sharing, but
it's not as effective as a router and more of a hassle to set up.

Router is the absolutely best way to go.
Best dollars I spent was on my Linksys 4 port router.

I've been using Freesco for two years
with an old 486 box with no hard drive.
Works great and easy to configure.
Runs off a floppy.

If I understand your question-- look at Sygate and their "OneNic Technology"

Still, it's apparently one Nic per machine - and requires at least a hub.
Might as well get the router..

You can do it with "IP Aliasing" on linux (did it once with a modem-return
system in DC), but this probably doesn't help you.
