Perhaps following : the last phone number digit with an interfering tone, then resending : your own signal? I'm not a telco person, so mind you all that this is : pure speculation. Not on any currently produced switch. (I'm getting tired of repeating this...) The only CO switches which were ever designed that there might be an audio path to the called end before off-hook are old brossbar and panel switches from the late 60s and early 70s. These switches are exceedingly unlikely to have been retrofitted for CNID; the LEC's will probably have simply put it off until they installed a digital switch... which _doesn't_ have an available audio path down which to spoof the CNID before off-hook. <sigh>, -- jr 'and I _am_ a telecom person' a -- Jay R.
