Here's the problem: I've got 50 lines coming into my site. I've got multitech Managed Rack 28.8Ks and motorola power modems. Users complain of: 1) Dropped connections 2) Slow connect speeds, 19.2-21.6K on average for 28.8K modems 4800 and 9600 occasionally with 14.4K modems The fact that 14.4K modems can't connect at 14.4K makes me convinced there is a problem. I've never seen that before until they made some changes with my wiring. 3) Unable to connect at all after retraining I talk to the engineer in charge of my central office and he says they can't do anything because they are only required to support 9600 baud. Which in my mind in a bunch of bull. This isn't the 80's anymore Bell Atlantic, wake up. They have suggested 1) I purchase $8K channel banks for each 24 lines and pay an extra $300/mo to bring the lines in on a T1. 2) Try "custoflex" lines which they say are their highest quality. These are only $5 more a month. I'm trying a few of these to see what happens. 3) I am also asking them to check for bridge traps. What I need are suggestions: 1) What can I do to get the phone co to do something. 2) What can I do to get some hard data to show them the problem. I'm willing to purchase some testing equipment. Please help, I am getting desperate.
