Don't discount Zooms so fast. My ISP uses 40 of them. They're solid performers, well-priced ($160 in bulk) and one of the most consistent (always get 26.4 connecting to one with my Sportster 4/18/95). I admit the Zoom 14.4's were total crap, but the V.34X model is excellent for its price-range. In fact, I've used it to both dial out and call in on, and it beats out my Sportster. With the new ROM that Zoom announced, it should perform even better. It seems the early kinks in the Rockwell chipset have been somewhat worked out.
