telecoms sized wire wrap tool

Anyone know of a source (or sources) for a
telecoms sized wire wrap tool?

We want to cable a Tellabs echo-cancellation
device and are having difficulty in locating a
wire wrap tool for the large square pins on the
back of this unit.

Or are there alternative possibilities people have
had to use out of desperation?

Your best bet would be to try an industrial supplier. As I recall, the
installers at the company I used to work for, had no problem wire wrapping
those shelves.

Missed quoting from agent newsreader, but your link to the OK Machine
wire wrap tool is here. I have one in my toolbox, but it's not for
sale :-)

I would guess that Graybar still sells OK or some other brand.

I got mine at Graybar (check your local business white pages, or
www.graybar.com). OK Industries makes them. They're available in
everything from a simple hand-wrap/unwrap tool on up to a power-operated
version that resembles a drill.

the truth is, try searching ebay for wire wrap (gun, tool) and you can
find a wealth of pictures and products to choose from.

You need a handle, and sleeve and a barrel or get one that's complete.
The sleeve is designed for 20-26 gauge wire normally.

If there is not too much wrapping involved, take a bic or biro pen. put a
needle through the nib part so as to leave a whole, feed wire through from
the end that housed the refill, then wrap. We used this method for regrades
during mt BT days when wrapping guns were broke or busy elswhere.
