Hello everybody,
I am interested in using the 56001 in my (not-yet-quite-bought) Atari
Falcon to emulate the sort of things that analogue synths do - you know,
VCAs, VCOs, ADSRs, ring modulators, all that kind of stuff. Most of this
amounts to table lookups and a couple of add-and-multiplies, but I would
appreciate a push in the right direction for the (sinusoidal) oscillator/
filter stuff. I particularly like the kind of circuit which can be a filter
_or_ an oscillator, with a *most* interesting region in between.
DSP books I have seen so far seem to concentrate on doing things that
analogue filter's can't. Cheesy litle filters a` la VCS3 should be dead
easy, but my own attempt at defining one using difference equations seems
to oscillate a bit too well - like explosively :-[
To do what I'd like to do I only have a few tens of instructions to spare
per sample, so going into the FFT domain is not on.
If DSPs are obselete, should I be buying a machine with 80% of its power
in the DSP? Dunno. Falcon flames to U:\dev\null please.
