Berkeley Design Technology, Inc. (BDTI) is a technical services and
software company focused on digital signal processing (DSP)
technology. We are a small, growing company with an outstanding
reputation, and are known for our practical DSP expertise. 

We provide our customers with products and services in the following areas:

        - DSP application software development
        - Analysis, evaluation, and benchmarking of DSP technology

The company was founded by U.C. Berkeley faculty and researchers.

BDTI is located near the center of Berkeley, California -- close to 
the downtown Berkeley BART station and the U.C. Berkeley campus.

The Job:

We seek an exceptional marketing professional to help us achieve strong
growth in our existing business areas, and to lead exploration of new
business opportunities.

In this position, your responsibilities may require you to:

      * Develop and manage customer relationships, with particular
	emphasis on personal contact with major current and potential
	clients.  Write proposals for customer projects.

      * Develop marketing strategies and programs.  

      * Product management: analyze customer inputs and represent
	customers' interests in product definition, development,
	pricing and support decisions.

      * Sales: devise and execute sales plans and programs, including
	direct mail campaigns.  Select, manage, and evaluate resellers
	and representatives.

      * Marketing communications: design and oversee development of 
	brochures, press releases, trade show presence, etc.

      * Contribute to business planning and strategy.  Identify and
	evaluate new opportunities that leverage BDTI's strengths.
	Write proposals and business plans for new opportunities.


A part-time position may be possible for qualified candidates.


If you have *most* of the following, we want to hear from you:

      * Outstanding interpersonal skills, and a strong interest
	in refining and applying them to building strong client
	relationships.

      * Hands-on orientation -- an enthusiasm for "doing it yourself"
	when appropriate.

      * Independence -- a demonstrated ability to work well
        independently, while being accountable for accomplishing 
	challenging, concrete goals.

      * Strong management skills -- ability to manage your own
	work and direct the work of others, balancing multiple
	concurrent assignments.  Ability to quickly understand the big
	picture, prioritize, and make sound decisions about where to
	apply resources.

      * Industry experience -- experience in or strong knowledge of
	the electronics industry, especially embedded systems, DSP,
	and semiconductors.

      * Technical background -- an engineering, software, or similar
        technical background.

      * Excellent writing skills.
