My users will spend no money for an editor, but always
complain that none is available. I point them to vi, emacs or pico
but they just howl. They want rodents and a "simple" interface.

xedit would be fine if it had buttons to search and
"cut", instead of cntrl-s and cntrl-w. It would also be nice
to have a little more functionality like pico's built in speller
and the ability to go to a specified line number etc.

This would be for running under X.

	   Can anyone help ?

   Thanks. Rico.

Try aXe version 3.1 which you can get via anonymous ftp from
export.lcs.mit.edu. It's in the contrib subdirectory under the
filename aXe-3.1.tar.Z. It's an X-based editor which is completely
mouse driven (the keyboard emulates Emacs for the most part) with
pull-down menus and mouse-based cut-and-paste. Hope this helps.
