Description: Required to review and improve the present Mathematics curriculum in the Bahamas to meet the needs of pupils and society and to satisfy tertiary education requirements and demands in the 21st century. Will oversee, coordinate and plan improvements to the Mathematics Curriculum. Post-Date: July 12, 1997 Availability: Accepting candidates until August 15, 1997 Grade: Accepting Junior, Mid-level, and Senior level professionals Term: 1 calendar year Location: New Providence/Nassau, Bahamas (may be required to travel to other islands in the Bahamas) Responsibilities: To fill the responsibilities, the candidate must devise a plan and strategy to evaluate the mathematics curriculum. Student profiles of current and expected performance should be created. Necessary changes to solve inherent shortcomings in the existing curricula must be recommended. The adequacy of the available human and material resources must be assessed and solutions suggested. The effectiveness of instruction in mathematics must be reviewed, and changes should be suggested to improve existing curriculum guidelines. Strategies must be developed and implemented for the training of education staff in the use of the revised curriculum. Officers must be supervised as they conduct training sessions on the implementation of the mathematics curriculum. Desired Experience (however Not Required): - Fluent in English - Doctorate in Mathematics Education or Doctorate in Curriculum - Masters in Mathematics or Doctorate in Mathematics - Masters in Curriculum - Approximately 10 years experience as a teacher of Mathematics - Approximately 5 years experience as a Mathematics educator, teacher trainer and curriculum developer Compensation package: $50,000-$72,000 per year -- TAX FREE (salary depends on experience) Salary includes:10 working day paid vacation Paid local holidays 5 days paid sick leave PLUS: Paid Dental/Medical/Life insurance $190 per diem for first 90 days $100 per diem for remaining 275 days Flight back = 2 round-trip flight airfare ticket for family per year RELOCATION PACKAGE: Includes relocating family, children, all luggage and accessories Attention: Grace Borchin VICCS, Inc. 11821 Parklawn Dr. Suite 206 Rockville, Maryland 20852.
