I think the instability comes not from memory problems, but disk
problems. DEMACS swaps to disk and, under certain circumstances, can
put quite a strain on the disk. Some controllers don't handle this
well, and timing bugs that don't show up under DOS can come to the
fore. Many people have reported problems to this effect. When I use
DEMACS, every so often it dies, but ALWAYS WHEN THE HD IS ON THE SAME
TRACK! (I know because my Dell machine tells me what track the drive
is on.)
