demacs kills DOSKEY

I just installed Emacs on my 386 PC. I am using the version that I found in
the archive at oak.oakland.edu. This announces itself as Demacs version
1.2.0 (based upon emacs 18.55). Once I got the environment variables sorted
out demacs works correctly even with 386MAX. However, after exiting demacs
(with C-x C-c) any DOSKEY macros are lost as is the DOSKEY command recall
function.

Is there any way to fix this so that my DOSKEY macros are kept and my
command recall will continue to work?

Regards, Trevor.
