I have been waiting for someone to mention this game...it is my family's favorite, we love to crush each other in the game...(nice family eh? :>) Ok, well, first, load up the game, and choose which option ya want (In this post Ill only tell ya the game play instructions, not the map maker prog.) Well, Choose # of players...Now, resources...The more resources, the longer the game...These are the resources: Gold, Iron, Timber, Coal, and Horses...The gold looks like this: \ / --- and coal looks like this like little dots... / \ Timber looks like a tree, iron looks like a big I, horses look a little weird, I cant remember what they currently look like, but its the one other than the one described here :) ok, Number of cities, you can build cities in the game to double production of resources...choose your limit...Difficulty (only in computer vs. mode) is the number of pieces of land that you get after the computer chooses his land... The level of hardness decides either how hard the opponent is and also, how high development gets...Only in Advanced and Expert do ya have boats...The rest of that menu is simple...Now, Map Menu...choose either Unique Map or and already made map (There should be 15-20 odd maps of Earth's geography) Choose your map by preference...Ok, now, once game play starts, choose your pieces of land...try to pick ones that will give you and edge inthe game (Ones covered with valuable resources, like Gold, Horses and Timber...Iron and coal can be bought using gold...It will say: Would like this city to be paid for in gold only?) Now, a big issue is force count...Lets say you have a piece of land surrounded on 4 sides by the enemy..and you only have one of your pieces next to that piece...your force count would be 2, his against you would be 4...If you had a piece with 5 allies, then the force count would be 5+1 and his would be the number of his surrounding states...Things like weapons, horses and boats change force counts...horses are 1, weapons 2, and boats 1...but you can use a boat with a horse and weapon on it to attack an enemy state that has some access to water...so then the force count for you would be the surrounding states, plus 2+1+1...Now, Cities...when you can build em (in other words, have enough resources, build em in an area with a lot of resources in surrounding states...what this does is it doubles the amount of resources..so if you have a gold, iron, coal and timber near each other, build a city near em so youll double the production #...also, they add some force count on your behalf, I cant currently remember the #...but cities cannot double the # of horses produced...Ok well, I think thats all the rules and stuff that I can remember...If you still play, email me some uuencoded saved games, and ill email some to you if you want...
