I have created a font for ATM using Publisher's Type Foundry and SoftType. The problem is that one cannot control the 'hinting' of the resulting ATM font. The font looks good printed on my laser printer, but awful on screen at, say, 10 points. SoftType claims that it can autohint characters, but it does not work very well for my font. Is there *any* possibility of adding usable hints to ATM fonts on an IBM machine??? The Fontographer people here in Dallas claim that their program can do this but it is a Mac only program. (Maybe next year for an IBM version.) Any help? Any hope for us IBM types?? Thanks for any help! -- John Baima john@utafll.uta.edu
