I am working at the Oriental Studies department of the Catholic University
of Leuven, Belgium. Since I have to deal with a never ending request for
fonts in all oriental languages imaginable (Hindi, Gurmukhi, Korean, Tamil,
Chinese, Japanese, Arabic etc.), I have been trying to find consistent
way of managing all these (and more) languages.

Of course, there are solutions. There is, e.g., Multi-Lingual Scholar, with
its many language modules. There are language-specific word processors, some
even in the public domain: NJStar for Japanese, NSstar for Chinese, Vada
for Korean and so on. There is Chi-Writer, with a Hindi and Sanskrit
option. There is Wordperfect, with a number of add-on language modules
(Russian, Arabic etc.).

BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR...

What I need is a way to design my own fonts, preferably in Windows 3.1,
preferably in TrueType. Now, if any one of you 6 billion earthlings has
ever come across a truly universal font-designer, please let me know. I
have been digging through a good deal of FTP-sites, but the result has
been nil, zero, nada. I have been browsing numerous PC-magazines, but
the result was the same.

Maybe there is no such thing, but if there isn't, well, then it's high
time someone spent his time designing it. It may be difficult, though:
the things I read about TrueType specifications look rather scary. Anyway,
I hope someone will make my (and my department's) day. Thanks...
