Hi everyone again, I found out what was wrong. When the notebook is closed there is a button that gets pressed that turns off the backlight to save batteries. During a rough shipping, that button was snapped off and got wedged into the hole that it goes in not allowing the button to open back up when the notebook opens. It was hard to figure out what was wrong but everything is working now. Except now the lcd doesn't shut off when the notebook is closed. Oh well, better than $700 repair Thanks everyone.
