The Video Toaster is tied to the Amiga because it's tied to the custom
chips as well as the NTSC timing signals.

The MAC version of the Toaster is nothing more than an Amiga 2000 with a
Toaster installed and a serial cable (and appropriate comm software)
tied to the Mac which runs as a front end controller for the Toaster.

If the PC version ever sees the light of day, it too will require the
Amiga to do all the "real" processing and to house the Toaster board and
the PC will just be used as the front-end.
