How do I print a halftone pattern?

I'm using Corel 9 and an Epson 1200 printer. Since this is a simple job, I'm
going to print a good quality proof onto glossy film so that plates can be
made straight from it (without the need for a positive).

The problem is that there is an area of even grey in my design.

Is there a way of forcing the computer to print an even halftone instead of
the error diffusion that it uses to print grey? What I want is to force the
inkjet printer to print out a grey pattern that might have come from a laser
printer. But I want to do this with the printer set at maximum resolution,
so that the text comes out very crisp.

If not, how do I select a pattern of dots small enough so that it looks like
grey?

Corel won't let me reduce the available "dots pattern" enough.

Thanks in advance

Antun
