Backing up files on a PAR drive

Hello all,

I thought I had backed up my PAR drive correctly, but on trying to
restore some files I find I'm having some problems.

1. The PAR is not automatically recognizing stills v. animations.
2. Although the backups were verified, some files restored
   partially corrupted.

I ended up having to restore to a normal hard disk and then
re-import the stills and anims separately.

When backing up, I turned off the translate becuase I vaguely remember
reading that that was what I was supposed to do. Since then, I've been
trying different combinations of translate and the anim/still gadget.

What is the best procedure to do this as I don't want to lose my work?
I have been using Ami-Back with an Archive Viper streaming tape
drive. Is their other Amiga software that will work better?

Thanks in advance...
