Sorry to cross-post this to so many non-forsale groups, but this product is animation-specific and I wanted to catch the right people. A friend of mine has a new baby and asked me to help him sell his DPS PAR, barely used, still in the box with unused warranty cards. For anyone that isn't familiar with the board, it's one of the best boards available for storing and transferring animations. It writes broadcast-quality computer animation sequences directly to a hard drive and plays them back in real time. We thought it was sold once, but the deal fell through and now he really needs to sell it, so he's drastically reduced the price. Here's the box description: The DPS PAR board fits in a slot and connects directly to a dedicated hard drive. 24-big RGB files created by almost any animation program are processed and compressed by the PAR card and then transferred in a component digital format to the dedicated drive. DPS PAR software makes it easy to copy, delete, merge, split, loop, dupe and otherwise modify an animation without introducing generation loss. To put an animation on tape, just connect a VCR to one of the PAR's video outputs, put the VCR in record mode and then click on the PAR's play button. The PC PAR accepts 24-bit IFF, Video Toaster and SGI files (from Lightwave and other programs). With an optional NTSC or PAL video capture daughterboard, you can record live video with the PAR. Stored video segments can be played back normally or in slow motion. They can also be exported as sequential RGB files, which makes it easy to perform rotoscoping and other effects which combine live action with animation. You can even use the PAR for time-lapse recording. Here are the features as they're billed on the box: - Real Time Broadcast-Quality Video Playback from Hard Drive - 60 Fields/Sec - Component (Betacam/MII) Output - Genlock Input - Video Bandwidth > 5.5 MHz - S/N >60 dB - Integrated IDE Controller - CVE Port for Optional Video Capture Card - GPI Trigger - Edit Stored Animations - Random Access Still-Frame Retrieval - Variable-Speed Slow Motion Playback - Archive with standard tape backup software Optional VT-2600 NTSC Capture card - Use with NTSC and S-Video inputs and outputs - Full software Proc Amp Controls - Also functions as TBC card My friend is asking $1000 OBO, including a Seagate Medalist 1 gig AV drive, bought for the PAR, that he'd be willing to include in the deal.
