How to reduce the size of a 3D lattice data set

Are there modules in the standard explorer release that will filter a
large 3D lattice down to a smaller 3D lattice? If not are there any
such modules available via anonymous FTP?
My large data set is a stack of MRI images and I am looking for ways to
reduce the number of data points in the image while preserving, as much
as possible, the quality of the image.

Thanks in advance,
