core dump on startup, explorer not in /usr/explorer

I appologize if this is an FAQ. We changed explorer's default location
from /usr/explorer to /u1/explorer due to space constraints. After
setting the environment variable EXPLORERHOME to /u1/explorer, typing
explorer results in a coredump as shown below.

abgen:/usr/people/vamsee 147 % explorer
User interface: killed -- Segmentation fault, core dumped

Has some one experienced this before? How do I make it work? Do I have to
re-install the software?

Certain files MUST be in /usr:

	/usr/lib/libcxX_s
	/usr/lib/libcxX_s.a
	/usr/lib/libcx_s
	/usr/lib/libcx_s.a
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/Dscribe
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/Explorer
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/Mbuilder
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/sgi-color1024/Dscribe
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/sgi-color1024/Explorer
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/sgi-color1024/Mbuilder
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/sgi-color1280/Dscribe
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/sgi-color1280/Explorer
	/usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/sgi-color1280/Mbuilder

I don't recall whether the installation process installs these as
links, or not. If they are links, then they don't point to the correct
place after you moved explorer. As a quick fix, why don't you set
EXPLORERHOME back to /usr/explorer, and make /usr/explorer a soft link
to /u1/explorer.

As a matter of fact, I've found this setup much more flexible. It
allows you to move the actual location of the installation without
changing EXPLORERHOME. You can do it with a script, and you can do it
transparently without any users' knowledge.

I have used this setup in the past to switch between the 1.0 version
and versions in development, and it works like a charm.
