Best Format for Graphic Storage?

What would be the best format to store scans, logos, created clip-art
etc in? I would be dealing mostly with slide show and printed documents.
What would be the reason for say going exclusively with JPEGs or CDR
files. Can the various graphics sources be reorganized to create a
single source for both ease of access and possible disk space savings?

Thanks in advance

tom
