I am attempting to find out if the marching cubes alg. is patented. I have a client that would like to use it in a commerical piece. thanks for any help, mark [ Moderator's Note: Yes, there is a software patent on the technique used in the original Marching Cubes paper. I am not sure who holds it. There are other isosurface routines that have similar results or are improvements on MC, but I don't have references handy. I will try with difficulty to restrain myself from commenting on the effectiveness and worth of software patents in general. - JRM ] -- Moderated by SCRI Vis <> Submissions to: graphics@scri1.scri.fsu.edu Guy, John R.
