Does anyone know of a reasonably cheap box that will read SMPTE time code
off a striped video tape and output a simple serial stream of data that
can be read by any computer?

Currently, I using a PPS-1, which outputs MIDI time code (same as SMPTE),
but it only outputs a MIDI data stream.
