Our institution has been approached by a vendor with a product named CAI-Net.
We are looking for advice from anyone who uses it or a related product
or who just knows about it.

It is a system of hardware/software that provides a uniform interface for the
end user to a wide variety of platforms and applications scattered around the
organization - even to machines residing on networks using different networking
technology.

The alleged advantage, is that it permits organizations to continue to use
equipment and software in which they've already made considerable investment.

Please let me know any opinion or evaluations you've made concerning this
product or related products. We want to profit from your experience.
