This post contains instructions for accessing the online catalogues
of two Canadian universities. The first (U of Toronto) is a MAJOR
research facility, and these instructions supercede those given in
the Art St. George internet library guide.

1) UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO

The University of Toronto library system has over 7 million volumes.
Enough said.

Telnet to vax.library.utoronto.ca (128.100.95.1) and logon as
"utlink" (no quotes) to the "Username" prompt. At that point a slick
menu takes over which has ample built-in help. ** THIS PROCESS
REPLACES THE FELIX SYSTEM **

2) WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY

Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, has just
switched its on-line catalogue over from its old antiquated system to
a new Sequent machine. This means our catalogue is now available
form the internet. The WLU library presently consists of about
1,350,000 items including 555,000 volumes, 115,000 government
documents, and 600,000 microforms.

To access the online catalogue, telnet to mach1.wlu.ca (192.54.242.17)
and login as "public" (no quotes). When the dollar sign prompt appears,
enter "library" (no quotes), and the on-line catalogue will be loaded.
The system has a fully documented interactive menu, including exit
instructions. The system will expect vt100 terminals, I believe.

Feel free to disseminate this information.
Best wishes,
David.

Our librarian needs to know if it's possible to access OCLC

Hi, I just saw an item on this in a recent issue of the
Chronicle of
Higher Education. If I remember right, there are plans to
develop
internet access to OCLC, but (I think) it doesn't exist yet.
It would
be worth checking the last few issues of the Chronicle.
Good luck,
Tom Rocek

OCLC's first online catalog and Prism service are not yet available on
the Internet, although tests of such service are planned (have begun?).
OCLC's Epic service (and, I believe, its Firstsearch service for end
users/patrons) are available. You do, of course, have to have the
appropriate passwords. The epic address is 132.174.100.2

Hi!

We are a group of students at the University of Roskilde, Denmark, who are
working on a thesis about Internet-security and especially the internet worm.

We have, however had a hard time finding material about this subject, there-
fore we would very much appreciate it if anyone could help us with the names
of some articles/books or papers about this subject.

Thanks in advance..
