My apologies to those who have already seen this. I found the subject header had become (none) when this posting reached comp.ivideodisc last time. I tend to ignore messages without a subject header, and so, I would think, do others. So this is an attempt to get it posted with a header. I have received some responses about this, but would certain welcome a lot more. I'm looking for a breadth of opinion, particularly from the academic community and language departments. Thanks for your patience. ------- Forwarded Message SUBJECT: OPINIONS OF VIDEO BLASTER, SUPER VIDEO WINDOWS Date: Thu, 03 Sep 92 20:12:55 -0700 To: comp.ivideodisc@ics.uci.edu, comp.multimedia@ics.uci.edu Cc: "Rika Yoshii" <ryoshii@ics.uci.edu> From: "Alastair Milne" <milne@ics.uci.edu> - ---------------------------------------- Hello, The clients whose multimedia teaching project we are creating are looking for opinions on these two multimedia boards [Video Blaster and Super Video Windows]. At present, the project (a set of 10 multimedia programs using conversational interactions to help teach Japanese) is on IBM's M-Motion card. But we want to be flexible about the delivery vehicle, especially since the people most likely to want the project will be the least likely to be able to buy expensive equipment -- university language departments are the main target. So our clients are very interested in knowing whether these boards are popular enough to warrant a bit of additional expense to make the Japanese program portable to them. Any responses, opinions, experiences, anecdotes, price lists, recommendations, praises, cautions, warning, full sets of literature on either :-) are welcome. Particularly, if anybody has the manufacturer's addresses for either, that would be very welcome. Naturally, if there is enough interest, I will summarise for the newsgroup. Many thanks in advance, Alastair Milne, Technical manager, Educational Technology Center, U. Calif.
