In the long run, there is no way. It someone wants to crack a protected program bad enough, they will. In the short run, there are several systems available that use dongles to make life difficult for would be crackers. Aladdin and Rainbow come to mind. Properly used, they can make it so difficult, that only the most dedicated cracker will persist. Improperly used, they are worthless. However, any system of protection that has the key stored in the EXE, as any self decrypting EXE would have to, is just pointless. All you have to do, is to step thru the program with a good debugger. -- Arargh308 at [drop the 'http://www.' from ->] http://www.arargh.com BCET Basic Compiler Page: http://www.arargh.com/basic/index.html To reply by email, remove the garbage from the reply address.
