Usage of DIAGNOSE A8, general i/o.

I just converted one of my utilities that had been using DIAG 20
i/o so that it would work in XA mode. One of the conversions was
to change DIAG 20 to DIAG A8. The control block for DIAG A8 needs
the storage key of the buffer. What I did was:

           LA R5,BUFFER
           ISKE R2,R5
           N R2,=A(X'00F0')
           STC R2,SGIOKEY

What I am asking is: Is this the best way to do it? While looking up
ISKE in the POPs (Its not one I use every day) I also saw ISKV. I am not
sure if this is the instruction I should have used in the more general case.
Or is there a better scheme that I missed?

Does anyone know how far back DIAG A8 goes? I tested the NUCON bit which
says that DIAG A8 is available (same byte that says if in XA mode) and
dual pathed that part of my code back to DIAG 20. Should I have bothered?
