Need 370 asm subroutine to read VM virtual reader files.

I am currently in need of a subroutine which would be callable from a
C program (SAS C compiler, in our case), which would read a print file from
the virtual reader, preserving the carriage control byte in each line.
The SAS C I/O functions use the CMS facilities for reading virtual
reader files, therefore, the carriage control byte is removed before
my program gets each line.

I have a general idea of how to write such a subroutine using DIAG x'14',
but if one is already available, I would much prefer to use it. Does
anyone know of such a subroutine available on the net?

Thanks.

P.S. Our operating system level ranges from a low point of VM/HPO 5.0 and
CMS 5, to a high of VM/ESA 2.1 and CMS 10, with a couple of levels in between
(obviously we have multiple systems). Our SAS C compiler is at level 5.00G.
