QuickTime OCX?

Has anyone seen, heard about, or written an OCX for playing QuickTime
movies in Win95? We're porting a Macintosh application to Visual FoxPro
for Windows, and need to control the videos from code. I believe Apple
supplies a VBX with QuickTime for Windows, so maybe a utility that allows
running VBX's from Fox would be
OK, too. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

About a year ago we wrote a 16-bit QuickTime OCX. It ran on Win95 and Windows NT, but assumed a container that could
deal with 16-bit OCXs. We never wrote a 32-bit version since our products are Win32/Mac cross-platform and there are
no Mac OCXs (sorry, "ActiveX"), so we moved to a different component technology.

It's pretty trivial to write a 32-bit QT OCX. All you need is Visual C++ 2.2 or higher. There's a ControlWizard for
writing OCXs. The QuickTime interface is idiotically simple to call and now exists as a 32-bit library for VC++ and
Borland. You can make the OCX expose whatever properties you need for video control.

Hope this helps,

Doug

I have download the latest QuickTime tools from Apple and installed
them. It looks like the OCX is installed and usable directly in
your compiler. It also comes as a VBX. I have tested it in a junk
application and adding the QT VBX opens its property sheet.
I didn't explore any further, but it looks like you can use it
free of charge.

Try VideoPlay/OCX from Media Architects Inc. 1-503-639-2505. I have never used
it but I have heard of it.
