Hi all

Require gradient effect on dialog title bar, same effect as used in the
microsoft Word title bar blue fading to black. I can only assume this can
be achieved by using an API.
which one though?

also want to know how to get non standard ICO file displayed in a dialog.
as in the word Microsoft displayed in the top left hand side of the word
application.
surely this is not a standard 16x16 or 32x32 icon

any help appreciated

regards

david

David,

    There is a real easy way to do it. Unfortunately, I don't have AOL
anymore but I found an OCX there called Gradient.ocx. All you had to do is
put the control on the form and you have a gradient titlebar going from
black to blue. If I knew where I put the control, I would send it to you. If
you or anyone you know have AOL, do a search for gradient.ocx.
Hope this helps.

    If you can't find that control, Microsoft Systems Journal had
an example in the Jan 1997 C++ Q & A column, called Shadecap.
    It's on the MSDN Library CD under Periodicals, MSJ,
vol 12 number1. Note, SDI and MDI apps require different handling;
it's covered in a follow up C++ Q & A column in the June issue,
also on CD.

Try this in the Form_Load section. I copied it rather quickly, but it is
how we do it.

' Set the background Drawing parameters
    AutoRedraw = True
    DrawStyle = 6
    DrawMode = 13
    DrawWidth = 2
    ScaleMode = 3
    ColorStart = 0
    ColorEnd = 255
    ScaleHeight = ColorEnd - ColorStart
    sngRed=0
    sngGreen=0
    sngBlue=1

' Draw the colored background

    For i% = ColorStart To ColorEnd
        ShowColor& = RGB(i% * sngRed, i% * sngGreen, i% * sngBlue)
        Line (0, y)-(Width, y + 1), ShowColor&, BF
        y = y + 1
    Next i%
