This is written with the eyes almost closed, but i think it will work :)

sql = "SELECT DISTINCT songs.Song  FROM songs  WHERE songs.artist LIKE '" &
Variable & "'"

Remark that after songs.artist LIKE  there is  '  "
after Variable & there is  "   '  "
