No, Java is a C++ like programming language. JavaScript is a scripting language based on
Java.

The Java compiler creates machine independent byte code that requires an interpreter
which implements the Java Virtual Machine. It's not just used for dynamic web pages. We
use it for everything on our servers.

No, the Java compiler creates byte code. You can mark speed critical portions of your
code to use the just in time compiler, in which case the interpreter will compile the
marked code to machine code on the fly. But the interpreter is always required.

Your description of the language is right on. Java is C++ without the baggage, no
pointers, no operator overloading, etc.

It's easy to sit there and say you'd like to have more money. And I
guess that's what I like about it. It's easy. Just sitting there,
rocking back and forth, wanting that money.
