I sometimes receive email from those saying they can't access our
site. I sit back and wonder if ..... their browser? ...... the tilde
in DBasics is interpreted differently? ...... or maybe they are the
type of people that doesn't know how to find their AUTOEXEC.BAT file?
Well it's none of the above! It's because DBasics Software Company
(yours truly) needs how to learn to address his site properly.
Why does UNIX use forward slashes and DOS uses backslashes
in their addressing? I suppose it so us programmers can
(1) keep gainfully employed because someone asks that question
(2) When they created the operating systems, keeping up with the
Jones's was not fashionable and being an individual was
(3) The guy who came up with the forward slash addressing in UNIX is
a disgruntled DOS system developer that got fired without severance
pay.
(4) Or someone had a dream that Craig would screw up something called
an article on something called the Internet about something
concerning his address. Sounded like that someone shouldn't have
eaten before going to bed ..... but what the heck .... if the dream
was real, we can put egg on this guy, named Craig's, face.
Happy Holidays!
