Is there a way in VB5 to display large amounts of text, aside from using
labels? The user shouldn't be able to edit the text.

Put the text in a text box and set the
multiline property to true and also\
set the Lock Property.

Perhaps even better is to put a frame on the form and put the text box
inside the frame -- then set Enable = False for the frame. The text box will
look normal but absolutely no interaction with the text box can take place.

Possible ZOrder type problems (which form is in front) depending on the
needed display.

Just use a textbox with the Locked property set to true. User can see and
scroll though text, it won't be grayed out. User can't modify the text in any
way.

I usually set the background to gray and remove the border of textbox. It allows
me display
significant amount of text without using up lot of screen real-estate and lets
the user know
that it cannot be edited.

As for letting user select and scroll through the text, that is the idea behind
non-disabled
text. (See original poster's question about why he/she doesn't want to use
labels.) Your idea
works if the textbox can be sized to show all the text to be displayed.

True -- BUT, the user can put the cursor in the text box and highlight text.
This doesn't make for a professional presentation. The disabled Frame that I
suggested in my previous post doesn't have this problem.

Good point! I forgot about the need for scrolling.

Have you considered the Print method and just print the text directly to the
form?

However, this method allows the user to place a cursor inside the Text Box.
If you don't want the cursor, try placing the Text Box in a Frame, then set
the Enabled property of the frame to False.
