Hi, I am new to this news group, so if this question is a little bit off topic, I apologize. I have programmed in Apple Basic for a few years, and even in Microsoft Quickbasic for a couple years since I've gotten my PC. Now, I want to expand my programming horizons, and learn C++. Before I can do that though, I need a C++ compiler for DOS. Since I'm totally blind, Windows just won't cut the cheese. I'm planning on taking a course at my local college next semester, and they use Borland C++ version 4.0 for DOS. I mean, I could go to the computer lab and work on my programs, but since I have a computer in my own home, I think it would be nice if I could work here also and get some other experience with the language just fooling around. I've been to several local computer stoors in the area, and they don't have the version that is compatible with the school. I've talked to the instructor of the class and he said that I could use C++ version 3.1 for DOS, but no one even seems to have that. However, I have seen Borland's Turbo C++ compiler version 3.0 for DOS. If I went ahead and bought this, would it work? How different would the commands be that I would learn in class in comparison to the Turbo C++ version? I would really like to stick with what the class is using though, so if anyone might know where I can obtain this software, I would definitely appreciate knowing. You can post here, or send me mail directly. Thanks very much in advance. Guy (guy@toledolink.com)
