Is my July 92 PCL Already Outdated?

I've been working to get the July 1992 version of PCL working under Utah Common
Lisp. I finally have it compiling and loading, but it doesn't work quite
correctly. All of my user-defined classes seem to have no slots! That is,

  (class-internal-slotds (find-class '<a-user-class-name>))

always seems to return NIL. Of course, this causes problems when making
instances.

I looked into this problem a bit and then, out of curiosity, I checked what was
available at parcftp.xerox.com. I picked up my copy of July 1992 PCL on July
10, and it appears that the version at parcftp is more recent:

  -rw-rw-rw- 1 ftp ftp 536731 Jul 16 02:17 July-92-PCL-beta.tar.Z

Did I miss an announcement of this? Does my bug description ring any bells?
And while I'm asking questions, what is this:

  -rw-r--r-- 1 ftp ftp 517879 Jul 23 12:48 not-quite-ready-pcl.tar.Z

Curious minds want to know :-). Thanks for any help.
