This meeting was originally scheduled for February 27, but due to bad weather was postponed a week. My apologies to everyone who was inconvenienced by the rescheduling. The meeting began with a presentation of the Eiffel binding for the NeoCore XMS engine. NeoCore XMS is an efficient, native XML database engine. The Eiffel binding was developed by Fowler Software Design, and allows for very easy development of XMS clients. We saw interaction between a sample Eiffel client and an XMS server, along with portions of the Eiffel code that made up the client. Tim Hershberger, a senior account executive from NeoCore, was on hand to answer questions about XMS. Overall, XMS looks like an impressive solution for anyone working with XML data storage and retrieval. After the Neocore demonstration, Steve Thompson presented a slide show he's developed as an introduction to the SDL Wrapper, CEUG's Open Source project, along with a demonstration application. Before the meeting closed, the group discussed future priorities for the SDL Wrapper. We decided that there's strong interest in exploring the audio and video components of the SDL. The next meeting of the CEUG will be on March 27, at the traditional time and place. The agenda will be announced shortly. For more information about NeoCore and XMS, visit: http://www.neocore.com/ http://www.neocore.com/products/products.htm For more information about Fowler Software Design, visit http://www.fowlersoftware.com The SDL Wrapper, CEUG's Open Source Project, is located on SourceForge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ceug/ If you are interested in joining the CEUG, visit: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/colorado_eiffel_users/ The Eiffel programming language offers advanced support for OO, generics, assertions (in the form of Design by Contract) closures (known as agents) and more.
