Input/output streams in Haskell and Miranda

Is it possible to model Miranda's simple [char] -> [char] input/output
technique in Haskell? Can $- or $+ be simulated using ReadChan stdin?

If anyone has achieved this, I would very much like to know how, as I have
been struggling with it for some time ...

Thank you ...
