I've been programming stuff via GUI and other software packages like UltraDev, InterDev by MS and wanted to try out Vis. Studio's VJ's package but never got to it. The company is getting into java/moving and and I need to pick up Java ASAP. I read quite a bit and I am looking into JBuilder and Eclipse. I worked with prev. people in the past and they highly SPEAK of Borland in general. Not just of their JBuilder but their Delphi and their C++. I need to pick up java quick and I needed something that is easy to use maybe lots of tools and wizards; if possible. I also used MS InterDev and liked the built-in tools that works with IIS and others. I haven't tried JBuilder no Eclipse yet. I am d/l Eclipse right now and wonder how this will be like. Eventually I will continue studying the language and pick up other necessary programs that will be required by school like VB intro and Advance, Java and few others. I think by using Java I won't be limited to just the M$ systems and I can move to WebLogic; other Databases like Oracle or mySQL (in my case). Price would not be an issue.
