Hi: We currently have CORBA java objects (using visibroker) providing services to our clients who use visibroker also. This of course works well. But now we have other people trying to take advantage of our services but they don't have visibroker and there is no plan to get one because of budget issue. I tested the CORBA support in jdk 1.3 and it did not work with visibroker 4.5.1. I also looked into java web services and found that it only works with jdk 1.3 or 1.4. But all our backend services are running using jdk 1.2.2 and the plan for going to jdk 1.3 is not near and so using java web services to encapsulate the knowledge of CORBA on the client side became impossible (if client side does not need CORBA software, money for license can be saved). So it looks to me that what's left are two options: 1. write a java client and talk to a java wrapper of the CORBA services on the server side thru RMI which is free. 2. write a java client and use http post to a servlet which then talks to the CORBA services. Are these really the only options I can have? Are there other better ways? Thanks in advance.
