Is there a way to let the user look at the first few rows of a ResultSet while the rest of it is still retrieving? Can it be figured out how many rows already have been retrieved? Thanks, Roland

Yes. If you have Borland Jbuilder then you can use the dataset object to retrieve data 'async' or 'as needed'. As needed may be what you want, not async, because you just need to retrieve data as the user scrolls down, you don't really need it to read ahead which may be wasteful.
