  OMNI GROUP is currently searching for a solid JAVA
developer with some mainframe background. This person
MUST have ALL of the required skills and years of experience shown. This is
an early July start. The rate is $55hr 1099
ALL INCLUSIVE. The duration is for one year, with an option
for a second year. The location is Wisconsin. Working conditions are said to
be excellent. One can be put on salary
if preferred, with benefits.

Position Description:
The individual will be expected to aid in the design, development and
testing of Java components adhering to Department Java development
standards, and actively participate in any necessary quality improvement
processes.  This person will also be expected to mentor other staff in the
Java language and concepts.  The individual will be expected to work on site
in Madison, with the possibility of infrequent overnight travel to a
regional district office.

Project Description:
FIIPS (Financial Integrated Improvement Programming System) is a Web based
intranet application deployed with WebSphere Application Server on Windows
NT and using DB2 stored procedures on a mainframe for database access and
business logic.  The individual will work as part of a project team to
develop and deliver Web components.  Your development effort will make use
of technologies including object oriented analysis and design, VisualAge for
Java and WebSphere Studio.  Other parts of the application make use of
stored procedures, SAS reporting and ESRI ArcIMS tools.  The project is now
in the second phase of development.

The FIIPS application helps automate the process by which highway
improvement needs are recognized, prioritized and translated into work
projects. It provides the ability to set up and maintain project description
data,  their schedule and estimate components, associated funding
parameters, and monitor progress. It facilitates the development of
improvement programs in a manner that helps ensure an optimal return on
investment in a limited resource environment. Legacy system integration,
tracking history, GIS capabilities and reporting capabilities are also used
to meet core business requirements.

Hardware/Software Environment:
MVS, COBOL, TSO, DB2, etc. to support some of the development.
Windows NT servers have WebSphere Application Server and ESRI GIS software.
Development tools include: VisualAge for Java, WebSphere Studio, Windows NT
and Rational.
