Java 2 windows executables

How can we create windows executable files running java 2 ?

We want to be able to download any software in a reasonable time. SDK
download of 22 Mb. takes forever.

Our program has been compiled using jdk1.2, will we get it done with the
SDK 3.2 jexegen utility?

  Thanks.

You don't use the JDK. The JDK is not even redistributable by your
license.

Use the JRE. The JRE 1.1 is 2 megabytes only. The JRE 1.2 is bigger,
maybe 8 megs, if I remember right.

Forget the jexegen utility. That way you distribute your java app in a
way that it only works with the Microsoft VM. Terrible idea. Also,
Microsoft's VM is only compatible with 1.1 (and not completely either.)

If you're really using 1.2 features, redistribute the JRE 1.2. If not,
use the JRE 1.1 -- perhaps the IBM one which is very very fast,
available at http://www.ibm.com/java. Or the Sun one.

The easiest way to get people to download a JVM is to direct them to the
java plug-in download page. They download the plug-in, immediately
install it. Then you have the JVM installed on the client machine.
