'llowed:

If I write an application that has to read and write files, and even uses
the new communications api, what the hell good is it if I can't distribute
it without having to set up someone else's computer with the Java Runtime
Environment? Is there a way to distribute a stand alone application without
giving a guy 20 disks and a book of installation instructions?

If your customer has no use for Java other than to run your
application, it would seem that Java installation is an unreasonable
load on your application.

Your customers are closed systems? They don't run programs other than
what you give them?

Do you feel responsible for giving your customers an operating system
too?
