I am looking for a solution for a problem, as indicated below, and was wondering if any body could help with any information. In Australia many finswimmers (see http://www.ozemai.com.au/~lproud for information on what is finswimming)live quite a distance apart (up to 4000km) which makes it difficult to compete in finswimming competitions. In an effort to overcome this problem I have been considering the possibility of what we could do over the internet. One thought that has come to mind is a net competition where people can swim in their own pools and submit their times via a web page. The data would then be received sorted and posted as a web page automatically and participants would be able to see their results as compared to other finswimmers almost instantaneously. I believe that the JAVA programming language would be able to do this but I personally don't have the expertise to create such a program. For those that have such expertise in JAVA programming and would know if it can be done, can it be done and how difficult would it be? Would I be able to teach myself within a short period or are their some compilers already out there that do similar jobs? Another method is do it manually so that people post an email to a central person who then compiles the information manually and create a web page and post it to the web however an automated system would be much better. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Regards Les Proud
